Why "Enhancement" in CDW?

Recently, the composite world has rapidly expanded its territory into interdisciplinary research fields, such as "Bio and bio-inspired composites", "Nanocomposites", and "Multifunctional composites". Fruitful and suggestive research results related on these fields have been presented in many international conferences and journals. In the field of "Bio and bio-inspired composites", many researchers have developed and investigated scaffold composite materials for tissue engineering and composite materials imitating the structures and functions of living bodies as well. Even tissues and cells are investigated from the view point of composite materials. The application and mechanics of nanofillers, such as, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and nanoclays, has been energetically investigated in the field of "Nanocomposites". In addition, various nanocomposites have been developed: biomedical application, nanostructured coatings and adhesives, conductive polymers stimuli responsive polymers for sensing and actuators, and so on. Though these composite materials are also included in the category of "Multifunctional composites", one of the most epoch-making functions might be self-healing. There is no doubt that practical application and improvement of these "enhanced" composite materials help realization of the safer and more reliable society. In this sense, "Durability" is still one of the most important research topics, even for enhanced composite materials. We hope to facilitate international networking of professionals who share the common goal of ensuring durable application of enhanced composite materials as well, in CDW-18.
